NetPhone Multi-User Networkable Phone Book
NetPhone is a multi-user Phone Book designed to run
under Microsoft Windows version 3.1 or greater, in a
shared-file multi-user environment using Novell Netware
version 2.0 or greater, or on a single user PC running
DOS 3.3 or greater (DOS 5.0 or greater recommended).
NetPhone will support multiple users of the same database,
and keep each user's entries private from all other users.
NetPhone is also available as a module of TradeSystem,
a DOS package for companies doing international export and
import. TradeSystem is described in "netphone.wri", a
Windows Write document accompanying this release.
NetPhone is offered free of charge by Integrated Trade
Systems, Inc. to introduce people to TradeSystem and its
many capabilitites. The version of NetPhone offered in this
release is a Windows-only version requiring Windows 3.1 or
greater. A Windows version of TradeSystem will be released
in early 1993.
NetPhone is supplied in the form of a self-extracting EXE
file called "SETNET.EXE". To extract the NetPhone components
and Windows Setup program, place the file SETNET.EXE in the
directory from which you will run the Windows Setup program.
For Setup to function properly, this directory MUST be called
"DISK1". You will be able to use a different directory name
for the actual NetPhone working directory. Run the extraction
routine by typing "SETNET" and pressing the <Enter> key. THIS
MUST BE DONE FROM DOS, or from a Windows DOS BOX.
Once the files are extracted, start Windows. From the
Program Manager, Select File, then Run, and enter
"X:\DISK1\SETUP" where X is the drive on which you have
placed the NetPhone files, and \DISK1\ is the directory name
(REQUIRED) in which you have placed the NetPhone files. The
Windows Setup program will then guide you through the
installation.
For example, if you placed the SETNET.EXE file on the
C: disk in directory \DISK1, you will first type (from the
DOS prompt):
C:<Enter>
CD \DISK1<Enter>
SETNET<Enter>
Once the files are extracted, you will start Windows,
Select File, then Run, from the Program Manager, and in
the Command Box, type:
C:\DISK1\SETUP.EXE
The Windows Setup program will set up NetPhone.
